UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Eligibility

Interested candidates must ensure eligibility based on the following criteria before applying for the UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Exam, considering aspects like age limit, educational qualifications, and nationality.

Nationality:

  • Applicants must be Indian citizens.
  • Acceptable cases include individuals from Nepal or Bhutan, Tibetan refugees who migrated to India before January 1, 1962, or individuals of Indian origin from specified countries.

Age Limit:

  • Applicants must be between 21 and 32 years old.
  • The crucial date for determining the age limit is January 1, 2024.

Education:

  • For Geologist Group ‘A’: a Master’s degree in Geological Science or related fields from a university recognized by the Central or State Legislature in India.
  • For Geophysicist Group ‘A’ and Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics): M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics from a university recognized by the Central or State Legislature in India.
  • For Chemist Group ‘A’ and Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical): M.Sc. in Chemistry or related fields from a university recognized by the Central or State Legislature in India.
  • For Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology): a master’s degree in geology or related fields from a university recognized by the Central or State Legislature in India.

Number of attempts:

  • There is no specific limit on the number of attempts.
  • Candidates can make attempts until they reach the maximum age limit.

Experience:

  • No minimum experience is required to be eligible for the UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist exam.
